Drama

Course Overview & Objectives:

Napa’s Drama department is headed by Katie Wright and takes the format of workshop based classes designed to develop performance techniques. The programme of courses within drama at NAPA aims to give students experience and skills of the different aspects of drama and acting; as the weeks unfold so will the students understanding and technique. The classes look at various drama/acting skills resulting in the continuous development of knowledge and ability. Finally the students will prepare a performance where they can really show off their acquired skills.

All we ask for those students wanting to become involved in drama at NAPA is a sensible and enthusiastic approach to learning and achieving goals. The courses are designed not only to develop acting ability but also are a great way to build on other skills necessary for all aspects of life. Drama at NAPA can:

  • Improve confidence
  • Develop communication skills
  • Encourage social interaction
  • Improve reading and public speaking
  • Gain performance experience
  • Encourage students to work as part of a team

There are opportunities for all within drama at NAPA, this year even more attention has been paid to the needs of students. New classes have been introduced for those students wanting that bit more from Drama as an addition to the already full and exciting programme of events. These include audition play classes, private sessions that follow the LAMDA syllabus; resulting in nationally recognized qualifications in performance and working towards Speech and Drama festivals.

The objectives of Drama here at Napa are to allow students to learn, develop and flourish within an informal yet professional environment in the most fun way possible. All students within drama classes shall have equal opportunities to achieve all that they are able to.
