What today’s announcement means for NAPA
Here at NAPA we’ve been working with Hull’s young people for a quarter of a century.
Today’s announcement of further financial support from the Arts Council’s Culture Recovery Fund means we can make ambitious plans to expand our reach and help more young people to fulfil their potential in the arts.
We’ve already started by removing all enrolment fees so that there’s one less barrier between Hull’s youngsters and the performing arts. We’re offering free drama classes to over 55’s and to our VIP’s – NAPA’s very own Visually Impaired Performers. And, we’ll be in position to offer scholarships to dozens of young people who might not be able to afford classes due to the impact that Covid-19 has had on their families.
And that’s just the start.
The pandemic has had a huge impact on Hull’s young people – and so we’re going to do everything we can to reach as many of them as possible through the 100+ weekly classes at our home on Anlaby Road, the 2500 young people in our Schools’ Outreach Programme, and our new full-time performing arts course in association with Wilberforce College.
We’ll reveal all in due course. But for now, thank you to the Arts Council and the Department for Culture Media and Sport.
NAPA is definitely #HereForCulture.
